Though I didn't get an Open Water certification, I did a couple of fun dives. I learned some exciting skills including, but not limited to, regulator recovery and mask clearing. We dove to around 25ft deep, I swam through bubbles.

Juego de Pelota (AD 731)
Copan, Honduras
Copán, know as the Paris of the Mayan world. Built between the 4th and 7th century, and inhabited by 20,000 people at it's peak. In 1576 a Spanish explorer discovered the ruins. Only five families were living there, they knew nothing of its history.

Catedral de San Jose
Antigua Guatemala, Guatemala
This cathedral and much of the town was destroyed by an earthquake in 1773, and the city officially abandon. Today Antigua is a beautiful colonial city protected by it's status as a UNESCO heritage site.

El Zonte, El Salvador
El Salvador, the land of the sun. There hasn't been a single cloudy day since I've been here. I stayed at a hostel in El Zonté, a thatched roof surf town where the sun rises and sets at opposite ends of the beach.

Three km's down the beach from El Cuco, as far the 50 cent local bus will take you, is La Tortuga Verde. Shortly after I checked, the one other guess and I watched this turtle gave birth to nine dozen eggs.

After a few days in El Salvador's wild east I'm firmly back on the tourist trail In the colonial city of León. The volcano at the end of the street, Cerro Negro, has erupted 23 times since it's "birth" in 1850.

Maderas Volcano
Rivas, Nicaragua
Ometepe, in an island in Lake Nicaragua formed by two volcanos. We hiked about half way up the smaller volcano, saw a troop of howler monkey, took in this great view and sung through the jungle on some vines.

Lost and Found

In the jungle between Bocas and Dávid there's a jungle lodge/hostel called Lost and Found. It's deep in a "cloud forest" which is a tourism phrase meaning place where is rain all the time.
